The Recital that Was Not to Be

Thank goodness Eva had an opportunity to wear her expensive costume,
have her hair put up in a bun and put some make up on for dress
rehearsal last week, as she didn't get to dance in her recital last
night! Eva had a bizarre accident Thursday evening that led to pain and
soreness that kept her from being able to dance. We have a "pillar
support" on our front porch (it appears at one time there might have
been 4 pillars on the front of our house, but now there are only 2. She
was on the base of one of those that is no longer and was using 2 hula
hoops. There is a bush fairly close, so she was likely leaning a bit.
As she tells it (I was inside, of course), one hula hoop fell and she
got tangled up in it and fell. As she fell, she hit her knee and a
delicate area coming down. The knee could easily be bandaged, but the
other area was not so easily addressed.

After 48 hours, one trip to the ER (very early Saturday AM) and a lot of
cajoling and finally bribing on my part to use the toilet, she is back
to normal. I wish I could say I am. I hope tonight I will get some
uninterrupted sleep and will start the week off right.

The good side of all of this is that it forced us to slow down some.
Teeball was rained out (what else is new), so we didn't miss that. We
had some delightful visitors who helped make the time more enjoyable. We also played a lot of games and read a lot of books.

Eva turned a corner late this morning and we had a wonderful day. The
weather could not have been better for the wonderful, annual Dragon
Parade from the corner of our street to Dragon Park several blocks away.
More on that in another post.
