Dragon Parade

Each year, our neighborhood association hosts a parade from the end of our street through various neighborhood streets to Fannie Mae Dees Park, also known as Dragon Park. The parade is led by a pipe and drum band (which makes me wax nostalgic for the Wooster Fighting Scot band) and a Chinese Dragon puppet. Eva was thrilled to get a chance to help carry the dragon. After I encouraged her to give someone else a turn, she then made a beeline for the very beginning of the parade where kids were on their bikes and on foot. She ran as if she was being chased by a dragon – oh wait, she was! She was a sight to behold – hair flying in the wind and joy in every step! At Dragon Park, there was free ice cream and free music. There were countless kids from her school, and they all had so much fun. And I enjoyed seeing fellow Eakin parents, church friends and various neighbors. The weather was picture perfect for a change (we’ve had a lot of rain of late).
