The tooth is out; the fairy is in!

Eva lost her first tooth today. As best I can tell it was during Chinese class, and was the result of vigorous wiggling. "It did not hurt, Mom"! She jubilantly greeted me at ECP (aftercare), literally leaping over toys and people to get to me to tell me the news. And then she ran to find her backpack to retrieve the tooth.

In the car on the way home from dinner, I casually mentioned that maybe we should put her tooth on her nightstand instead of under her pillow, since her pillow has a tendency to move a lot during the night and even fall off the bed, and we wouldn't want the tooth fairy to have trouble finding her tooth. She thought that was a great idea. A fabulous conversation ensued regarding how big the tooth fairy is -- end result is that she is just big enough to bring in a quarter and remove a tooth. Wait till Eva sees the dollar coin that I just noticed the tooth fairy brought (versus a quarter)!

Life is good!

P.S. . . how bout that hair, huh? I was really focused on the gap in the teeth and not the wild hair.

Long Overdue

For the longest time, friends and family have asked, "are you writing all this down"? To which I have responded, "are you kidding. Who's got time for that"? Well, I decided to finally make time.

What's important to know about Eva right now:

• she just turned 5 1/2


• she has her first VERY loose tooth


• she loves her kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Flynn


• she's really into singing right now -- for some reason The Twelve Days of Christmas is her current favorite (right after I'm done posting I need to look for the full song, so I can remember what's on the 11th and 12th days!)


• gymnastics has taken a back seat to tee-ball this fall -- she drew some beautiful pictures in the dirt with her finger on Saturday! She also fielded a ball and hit the ball pretty well.

• As she was brushing her teeth tonight: "Mom, if my tooth falls down the drain, the tooth fairy will still come, right"?


• When asked "does this look familiar, Eva," she responded, "No, it just looks the same."


• "Mom, can we buy some dog food for our dog." [We don't have a dog. She just wants to be prepared for when she is 7 or 8 -- the age I promised her we'd get one. Wow, does 7 seem to be right around the corner.]
