Fancy Nancy
Last week was Read Me Week at Eva's school, and one day was "Favorite Book Character Day." Eva went as Fancy Nancy. She even had her Posh Puppy, Frenchie, with her. She had a fun time with it.
Last weekend, we went to see “The Gruffalo” at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center with my friend, Kissy, and her kids Emerson and ZuZu. The play was funny and delightful, and we had a fun time having a leisurely lunch at the downtown library beforehand. Then, after the play we visited the Tennessee State Museum, where the kids had a blast running from interesting exhibit to interesting exhibit. Then, we went for ice cream at Maggie Moo’s. What fun we all had! Then, this past week, Eva got to see “The Gruffalo” again on a field trip. I think she enjoyed it just as much the second time around.
Last Saturday, we were downtown early, so we spent some time at the beautiful main library. We checked out almost every Henry and Mudge book and also got a couple of old movies – Heidi (the Shirley Temple version) and Sleeping Beauty (the Shelly Duval’s Fairy Tale Theatre version, with Bernadette Peters and Christopher Reeve). Anyone remember those? It was a trip down memory lane for me, particularly considering the number of times I must have watched that version of Heidi when I was a child. Eva wasn’t sure about it at first, but ultimately enjoyed it very much.
Eva’s getting excited about her birthday. Another mom and I are taking Eva and 3 friends to see the SEC Women’s Gymnastics Competition next Saturday. The girls will come to our house, have cake and play a bit and then we’ll go to the “show.” On Sunday, we’ll have some friends over for dinner. And best of all Mimi and Popaw are surprising Eva with a visit for the birthday weekend! I’ll try to post soon after.
